The tower's news page loads with a script and could not be read, so check it before you go.
Quick answers
What time does Osaka Castle's main tower open and close?
9:00 to 18:00, with last entry at 17:30. The tower says it may close the ticket queue before 17:30 depending on the day. It is closed December 28 to January 1.
How much is the ticket?
¥1,200 for adults and ¥600 for university and high school students, who must show a student ID. Overseas students should show an ISIC (international student card). Without ID you pay the adult price. Junior high school students and younger are free but need proof of age; for overseas visitors aged 15 or under, the tower names the passport.
Can I reserve a ticket in advance?
No. The tower says it does not take admission reservations. The phone number it gives for groups is only for telling the staff your visit date and size, and is not a booking.
Can I pay by card or phone?
Yes. The official guide lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners Club and JCB cards, IC cards (Suica-type transit cards plus iD, nanaco, Rakuten Edy, WAON and QUICPay), and QR payments including Alipay, WeChat Pay, UnionPay, JKOPAY and PayPay, as well as cash in yen.
Is there a coin locker or luggage storage?
Not inside. The tower says it has no coin lockers, but the ticket counter holds one bag for ¥100. Drop-off runs 9:00 to 17:30 and you must collect it by 18:00. Heavy suitcases are better left at a station; see our coin locker guide.
Is the tower stroller and wheelchair friendly?
Strollers are generally not allowed inside because the upper floors get narrow and crowded. The tower keeps them free at the ticket gate. It lends 5 wheelchairs for use inside only, first come first served, with no reservation. The elevator is staff-guided: it goes up to the 5th floor only for everyone, and from floors 5 to 8 and the way down to 1 are stairs, except for wheelchair users and people who have trouble walking, who may use the lift on all floors.
Is there an English audio guide?
Yes. Audio guide devices are free in Japanese, English, Korean and Chinese. Pick-up is until 17:00 and return is by 17:30. Numbers are limited. Staff who can handle foreign languages are at the information desks on the 1st and 5th floors.
Can I eat or take photos inside?
No eating or drinking inside. Photography is banned in marked no-photo areas, and the tower also bans loud talking, sitting on the floor and using the phone while walking. It also bans camera gear that blocks other visitors.
Who gets in free?
People who show the right certificate, including holders of disability certificates (one carer free too) and Osaka City residents aged 65 or over. A visitor who isn't covered pays the usual fee.
